Personal Savings

Brighton Bank offers IRA Accounts to help you save for retirement. Please contact your local branch, and one of our friendly customer service representatives will be glad to help you.

Traditional IRA Accounts

Traditional IRA contributions are made pretax (contributions are generally tax deductible). When the funds are withdrawn (generally not before you reach the age of 59-1/2) you owe taxes on all of the contributions and the gains on the contributions or on all money withdrawn at your tax rate at the time of withdrawal, not the tax rate from the time of contribution. We recommend that you consult a tax professional for more information.

Roth IRA Accounts

Roth IRA contributions are made after the income tax has already been paid on the contributed funds. Distributions are made with no taxes due as long as age rules are followed. Choosing a Roth IRA will allow contributions to grow with interest added monthly with no tax due on the contributions or on the interest at the time of withdrawal. There are some exceptions that allow for free early withdrawal. We recommend you consult a tax professional for more information.

Coverdell Educational Savings Account (CESA)

Coverdell Education Savings (CESA) accounts are tax free educational savings accounts established to benefit a child with educational expenses and deposits can be made until they reach the age of 18. It is a non-deductible and up to $2,000 per child can be contributed each year. Earnings accumulate tax free as long as used for qualified educational expenses.
